Mini in Heavy Rain Season

New postby Surge » Tue Sep 22, 2009 6:09 pm

Let's race Mini's on all the small tracks with heavy rain. We could do a short season of like 5 or 6 tracks, 1 race per week. If there is enough interest we can figure out what day and time works best.

Some of the tracks would be Zandvoort Club, Monza Junior, etc. The more people that have expansions, the greater the selection of tracks can be. Right now I'm limiting myself to Race 07.

GTR Evo comes with Race 07 content, and Race ON will come out soon which will include the STCC expansion and will bring new stuff like Formula Masters, WTCC 08, Detroit Muscle cars, and new US tracks.

Correct me if I'm wrong but here is a list of short tracks in Race 07.

Curitiba Oval 2.6km
Oschersleben B-Course 06/07 2.6km
Valencia Nacional 3.1km
Zandvoort Club 2.5km
Pau 07 2.8km
Brands Hatch Indy 1.9km
Monza Junior 2.4km
Puebla Oval 2.2km

We could leave the ovals out or we can run them, doesn't matter. We can keep the races short (maybe 10 laps) and do a 2 race format with reverse grid in race 2 of each event. Or we can just do 1 race on each.

Sounds like fun. Weekends are better for me. If I had to pick a time it would 9 or 10pm est. Also I am a NASCAR fan so I'm ok if we run ovals.

Aww, darn! I forgot about ABS and TC! And here I was at Zandvoort Club sliding around like I was on ice in sneakers!

Since this "season" will only be in heavy rain, I think we should make it a point to remind people that the DA's are allowed (you know, for people like me who forget. Now, what were we talking about?)

Weekends, 9 or 10 is fine with me. How many races? Will we race a few times at each track, or run 3 or 4 different tracks each night?

slippery slash

EDIT:
Oh. Here's an idea: Some, or most, if not all of those tracks listed have reverses, right? We could run race one clockwise, and race two counter-clockwise, just to mix it up.

BTW, those tracks are OK with me, although I don't get warm and fuzzy at Oschersleben; race tracks on an airport runway, eh. Might be fun in a Mini in the rain, though, so I'll see what it's like first.

MORE EDIT:

I just ran a quick test of Zandvoort Club in the Mini with heavy rain. The DA really make a difference!

Around when do you think the Mini-Cooper Rain Season and the FBMW season will start?

Theres an Aston Martin cruise up on the Atari board I think I'm gonna' hit this weekend . . .

Oh . . and Macau! You're one sick puppy, LOL! I tried a few cars, I think the Seat is the best for me there. Jeez, I hope it's not in the rain, I'll have to make sure my will is up to date and my life insurance is paid . . .

It would be good if we had a few more drivers, we can start taking signups, and plan it for a few weeks from now. Meantime we can run some fun events without points. Ideas are welcome, recruits too.

WOW!

First place in the standings. I had to take a screen shot of that, 'cuz I know that won't last, LOL!

I seriously cannot believe we drove 2 races of approximately 17-18 laps, then practiced, qualified, and raced a 20 lap race (for what? 40 or so laps?). Then Rtoups, hbomb and I went to Puebla Oval and ran around 40 laps!
What insanity! :D
