F3000 season

New postby SlashTheTexan » Wed Sep 23, 2009 1:05 am

Maybe the thing to do would be to run a season of FBMW first and then an F3000 season.
I would like to see a short but fun season emulating F1.
Courses would be:

Estoril
Imola
Brands Hatch (for a British GP)
Monza
Vara (to simulate Monaco)
Porto (Portugeuse GP) (Magny Cours is out)
Brno (to simulate German GP)
Curitiba (for a Brazilian GP)

Eight should be enough, and we could pare those down, change them or add more as we please.

Probably the best idea would be to let everyone list their fave courses and then just go with those for all car classes that we intend to run (personaly, I really don't like the Magny Cour in R07, but at least it was a French GP site).

Anyway, that's my idea for a season (at least for FBMW and F3000).

Reason: add porto, drop magny cours

So do you want the same tracks for both seasons so that we're familiar with them when we get in the F3k?

I was thinking that, at least in the very beginning, we would just use tracks that everyone likes.
We gather up from each member what tracks they like and then use the ones that are on everyones list. Or, conversely, we could ask what tracks they absolutely hate to drive on and drop those from any consideration. For example, I sometimes like to drive around Pau by myself, but I wouldn't like to really race there - maybe mess around in Minis or 1987 WTCC cars. It's so tight, I don't see a real place to pass. And if someone in front crashed, they'll more than likely block the road! It might be fun in the aforementioned cars, but a real race? I'm just not ready for that yet.

I don't like this way, though, as someone who really likes, say Monza, finds out that someone else absolutely hates it, so it gets dropped, and the one who likes Monza might take offense and leave.

After everyone gets their feet wet with a short season of WTCC, FBMW and F3000, we could expand the circuits up to a realistic-like number and simulate a real season, maybe even use Pau!

I think it's a good idea to use just the tracks that everyone agrees on for the first "season" or whatever we will call it. I put up the circuits I like (although Istanbul isn't really near the top of my list) to provide an example and open it up for discussion. There are others I like, and others that I don't care for but would drive, but one's like Pau I leave off my list as a negative vote for that track. WE get the tracks worked out and everyone can practice them offline and we can have pre-season runs on them as warmups, stuff like that.

Everyone will have preferences and some tracks are more popular than others. We'll get a list and if there are many votes against a track on the list we can replace it with another. No big deal.

Can you work out a track list Slash? We need figure out if we want to run it along side the mini season maybe on sundays, or wait till after. Anyway, if you work out the details we can post it and start taking signups.. even if it's far in advance.

Let's do the Mini-Cooper and FBMW season first. We may want to do a smallish WTCC 06/07 season, too, depending on the people we get and what they want to do, I don't mind.

Sure, I can't wait for an F3000 season, but I'd like to be confident in the quality of the drivers abilities before attempting to run a full field of those. My experience at the Monza server has taught me that. The FBMWs, MC's, and the WTCC cars are easier to handle so we can break everyone in on those.
Plus, I'd really like to include Nurburgring GP in the F3000 season (and the FBMW season, too, if we can get enough people who have it).

How about if I work out a list and then we can have a poll . The circuits that everyone votes for (unanimous) would be in. If we don't have enough circuits, we could start adding from the next most popular on down until we have enough circuits.
Problem is, there are some circuits I'd like to run with WTCC cars, but not with the Formula cars (like Pau) . . .

Maybe you could put the Nurburgring GP up on the server for FBMW's soon . . . .

Depending on the people that find us we may be able to jump into that. HumpheryB said last night that he prefers to race the WTCC but he was doing well in the FBMW too.

Recruiting is difficult though, and I think our best tool is the server right now and everyone telling their friends.

As much fun as I think it is, we may have to scrap the MC season and start with WTCC.

Let's start a WTCC season thread and pick this one up later on when can get some votes.

If people are available both saturday and sunday then we could run 2 leagues side by side. Or we can do it every other week.

Well, I can't say I'll miss the MC rain season, but I know it would be fun; but also, it might be a bit daunting to some who have never raced R07, rain or not. It is something we can come back to when we have enough people. We can say, "Hey! Remember that MC rain season we were going to do but never did . . . .?"

I've been having a blast driving the WTCC Extreme BMW's. I haven't given myself the chance to try any of the others, but . . WOW!, they're fun - just like McC said they were. I've been driving the BMW Extreme at Macau reverse and it's just so much fun, I'm not sure I can handle it . . .

OK, here's what I came up with for both FBMW and F3000. Check them out and see what you think.

(in no particular order . . . )

1. Brno - the Czech GP
2. Brands Hatch - the British GP
3. Imola - the European GP
4. Monza - the Italian GP
5. Vara - the Swedish GP
6. Zandvoort - the Dutch GP
7. Curitiba Reverse - the Brazilian GP
8. Estoril - the Spanish GP
9. Porto - the Portuguese GP

And, if we get enough people who have GTR evo,
10. Nurburgring GP - the German GP
(or we can DL Hockenheim)

For novice setups (all aids allowed), I'd say 10 lap races. For Pro settings (all aids off), I'd like to see a minimum of 20 lap races.
Of course, that is just my 2 cents worth. We want everyone's input on this, so let's see what everyone else has to say.

I'll work on a season for WTCC cars tomorrow (later today?) - definitely want to include Macau reverse for those, LOL.

--------------------------------------

EDIT: How about if we DL some U.S. courses and run the WTCC cars on them? We could generate some interest this way by advertising it as a USTCC. We could run at Mid-Ohio, Watkins Glen, Elkhart Lake, places like that. We would need a couple of ovals. A big one like Indy, and a small one like . . .like . . . I don't know any small ones, LOL!
It would definitely generate some interest at least here in the U.S. It could be like our own version of NASCAR.

After that we could run a season of FBMWs as our own version of a World Championship at the courses I listed a bove. Me, I would like to replace Magny-Cour with Spa and Curitiba with Interlagos, and add Hockenheim.

Also, I think it be best if we run a WTCC season first, as it seems most people are interested in them over FBMW and F3000, and then run an FBMW series.

Thoughts?
